Olivehurst Public Utility District Implements EnBiorganic Performance Trial To Address Persistent Odor Issues

Installation of EnBiorganic Technologies autonomous bioaugmentation technology begins at neighborhood lift station to help combat odors and H2S damage to collection system assets

Olivehurst, CA, July 2022– EnBiorganic Technologies (EBT), innovator and provider of turn-key autonomous systems for the natural, biological treatment of wastewater in conjunction with its licensed installer, Permidian Technologies of Murietta, CA has just completed the installation of an EBS-Di unit at a lift station in the Plumas Lake area of the Olivehurst Public Utility District.

The utility has been working to control odors in the Plumas Lake area of the community for many years with various methods, but the issue has persisted. The area is only 20% developed which contributes to low flow and historically stagnant wastewater in the collection system. This results in residents experiencing odors which in turn, generates a high volume of complaints. Hearing of the exceptional results the EnBiorganic technology had delivered in odor eradication in other parts of the country such as Silver Spring Township, PA and Muldrow, OK, Olivehurst opted to take advantage of a risk-free 60-day performance trial of the technology to prove its effectiveness in eliminating odor, mitigation of H2S deterioration in the authority’s collection system, as well as lowering or potentially eliminating the need for sludge disposal and the associated costs. Taking this proactive approach would also assist in limiting potential fines or issues with environmental agencies related to odor.

The unit was installed at a lift station in a residential subdivision 2 miles upstream of where high degrees of odor had been experienced, approximately 6 miles from the treatment plant’s headworks. This location was determined by Olivehurst Public Utility District staff and EnBiorganic’s technical team as the most favorable location to achieve the desired results. The utility currently serves a population of approximately 15,200 residents with an average treatment of 1 MGD.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Olivehurst in solving their issues. Their willingness to test new innovative solutions like the EBS-Di to solve their collection system health is commendable,” shares Jim Aanderud, President of Permidian Technologies, “both EnBiorganic and Permidian are confident that during the period of the performance trial they will experience not just the odor elimination desired but many other benefits as well.”
