How to Restore Lake Health Using All Natural Technology

Have you ever received a notice that your favourite lake is no longer a healthy place to swim? Have you had lake rash or spied green algae at the edges of the lake? Have you ever received a notice that the lake is not safe for animals to drink from?

Often this is due to the harmful toxins being released by algae blooms. This can lead to health problems in people, animals, and ecosystems, ranging from mild symptoms to even death.

Restoring the health of water ecosystems isn’t just about aesthetics.

By harnessing the power of naturally occurring microbiology, we can get to the root of nutrient imbalances in lakes, bring them back to health, and keep them healthy long-term.

Signs of Unhealthy Lakes

Here’s what to look out for:

  • The presence of algae blooms, also referred to as cyanobacteria blooms. They can look like a blue-green scum or mats on the water surface.
  • Poor water clarity, appearing as cloudy or murky water or sediment and matter floating in the water.
  • Reduced wildlife and plant life surrounding and within the lake. Think: fewer fish, birds, and a decrease in vegetation.
  • Foul odors that can smell like rotten eggs or sewage.
  • Dead fish can signal low oxygen levels or the presence of a toxin.

The Root Cause of Unhealthy Lakes

Lakes can become unhealthy for a variety of reasons, most commonly from pollution and/or excess nutrients

Pollution can come from any number of sources, including runoff from agricultural practices, industrial waste, and sewage.

Excess nutrients, also called eutrophication, usually refers to Phosphorus and Nitrogen, often from fertilizers. This can cause algae growth in water bodies, leading to algae blooms that can deplete oxygen in the water, block sunlight for aquatic plants, and even create areas where aquatic life can’t survive. Sometimes, we even see harmful algae blooms (HAB) that produce toxins that harm both human and aquatic life.

Addressing Lake Health

Improving the health of a lake means getting to the bottom of the problem. More often than not, it can be diagnosed as an excess of nutrients. So, how do we solve it?

EnBiorganic Technologies’ lake restoration technology, EBS-Di, is grounded in nature, addressing the symptoms while solving the cause for long-term health. Utilizing our bespoke mix of naturally occurring soil bacteria, we can achieve balance for lake ecosystems.

The EBS-Di generator is installed seamlessly with existing infrastructures, built for low maintenance and management. Next, we ensure our firmware is tuned to your unique needs, adjusting inputs and outputs to match the flows and conditions on-site. Then, our naturally derived, nonpathogenic microbiology is released. Each mix is developed for a particular site, trained to feed off a certain diet, then released into the environment with a knowledge of its food source. This corrects nutrient imbalances and keeps lakes thriving into the future.

The Benefits of EnBiorganic’s Lake Restoration Technology

Our system is tried, tested, and ready to provide results. Here’s what you can expect from the EBS-Di system’s work:

  • Balanced nutrients and sediments. Our team diligently selects the right organic microbial mix to support equilibrium in water bodies. This means supplementing the lake with healthy microbes that it may be lacking.
  • Autonomously sustaining ecological harmony. This isn’t just a quick fix for the symptoms. The EBS-Di system autonomously maintains balance in the aquatic environment, addressing the ongoing fluctuations in organic materials and nutrients.
  • Safe and natural solutions. Our microbiology is sustainably-sourced, organic, non-toxic, non-pathogenic, and 100% safe for all animals, humans, plants, and nature.
  • Reduced risk. A healthy water body supports a healthy ecosystem. When nutrient imbalances are addressed, the lake’s resilience is fortified, and the environment around it can thrive. This includes humans, too!

EnBiorganic Technologies Lake Restoration Success Story

We were thrilled to work with the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, located in Sands Point, New York, on their Pond Revitalization Project. They were struggling with algae, leading to dark, murky water.

So, they reached out to Spadefoot Design and Construction, a habitat restoration firm and EnBiorganic Technologies distribution partner, to get to the root of their challenges. Spadefoot worked with us to set up the EBS-Di system to address nutrient imbalances, algae, and sediments.

Here are the results:

Note the visible reduction in algae, improved water clarity, and overall healthier ecosystem. Thanks for trusting us with this important project!

Our water bodies perform so many functions — some recreational, others critical. We use them for fishing, livestock water sources, irrigation, boating, tourism, swimming and more. We can unlock so much potential in our lakes by restoring them to their natural beauty and health.
